Eclipse 2017

This was my first time filming a solar eclipse and I must say, it was an amazing experience!  I took pointers from a few co-workers that were more experienced videographers and decided to give it a go.  Utilizing my Canon T7i with a 75-300mm lens, I rigged a shade 14 welders glass and used it as a filter to capture this rare moment.

My shade 14 welder’s glass was actually a rig that was constructed out of shade 9 glass overlayed with a shade 5 glass.  The local welding supply store ran out of shade 14, but they were very helpful in recommending the 9+5 solution.  I adhered the glasses to a piece of cardboard with a 58mm hole, which allowed the entire rig to fit snugly on the lens and eureka, it worked!
